There is a special dynamic between every couple-- unique memories, special places, inside jokes and stories of crossed paths. It’s a futile attempt to compare relationships because each one is so incredibly personal and fulfilling to the counterpart that an outsider’s validation should mean nothing. Social media has a trend of glamorizing everything and relationships are no exception. In all honesty, I think we all know that our apologies, failed plans, and vulnerable moments play a role in knitting our hearts together as much as the “mountain tops” and skipped heart beats.
I could go easily write about all the ways Drew proves to me through his actions (more than his words) that he is out of my league and could probably convince you rather quickly, but I won’t embarrass him. Instead, I’m going to encourage you to be intentional and extra thoughtful about prioritizing others with your time throughout the holidays and share some gift ideas that may give you some ideas on ways to make the guy in your life feel like the stud he is…...to you ;)
The Adventurer
Drew is an adventurer. There is nowhere he shouldn’t be able to see or go-- nothing he can’t accomplish if he plans and sets his mind to it. My life has been made infinitely richer as his wife, not from “things” he has bought me, but from memories and experiences through travel. I can safely say that I never would have ended up on the “tongue” of Trolltunga in Norway or camping down at the base of the Grand Canyon without him.
These are some of his absolute favorite items for the many different ways he adventures-- hiking, mountain biking, traveling, running, photogrpahy, etc.
THE BELIEVER
Drew is wind under my wings. And I know how cheesy that sounds, but my first reaction to potential and new things is always to downplay the possibilities. Drew has an amazing way of affirming his confidence in me through his actions. Instead of listening to me dabble in the idea of starting a blog and telling me I should, he bought me a web page and said, “you have a blog, I’ve formatted it and you should write something.” When I began sharing my passion of exercise and workouts, he saw how much joy it brought me and got to work learning how to create shareable content so that more people could join in what I thought would never be more than a hobby. He isn’t one to offer words of empty praise, but there is nothing that means more to me than his support and belief that together, we could do anything.
He has put a LOT of time into creating a shareable version of my workouts and helped me make the MOVE SWEAT SHRED 8 Week Guide. This has meant a lot of hours in front of a computer screen and this bluetooth speaker below has kept him jamming the whole time.
THE ATHLETE
I know all girls think that their guy is the shiz, but if you saw Drew play soccer, you would know. It was the thing that first attracted me to him as a Junior in high school as I watched him play on the same college team as my older brother. I’m disciplined as an athlete, but not a natural. I’m willing to work harder than most people and that makes up for a lot, but Drew is truly an incredible athlete. He played all four years in college, was named an all-american, and part of two National Championship titles. He’ll tell you he isn’t anything special, but he is and the neatest part has been watching him translate his skill and love for the game into the lives of middle schoolers as a coach. Drew comes home from games with a permanently elevated heart rate and the stress cannot be healthy, but that’s how invested he gets! He loves teaching them how to truly succeed at the game not just at their current level, but as future athletes and young men. And I’ll just tell you the hours of 3:00-5:00 are not ideal in anyone’s schedule, the temperature in September is nowhere near pleasant, and the pay is laughable. But he loves it and those boys love him.
THE PERFECT GIFT FOR ANYONE
As you've probably gathered, our styles are pretty relaxed and we spend the majority of our time in clothes that are comfortable, movable, and expect them to keep up. During the holidays, there are more opportunities to dress up for parties, church services, family pictures, and so much more. These sweaters from Prana have the ability to be worn so many different ways and the comfort and quality is evident. I've been throwing on my sweater over jeans to be worn out for errands and then black leggings and boots if I want to dress it up a bit. Drew opted to wear this sweater in family pictures on Thanksgiving and then just as easily later in the week out to dinner with friends. We would both choose to invest in pieces that we know will hold up for longer rather than keeping up with every new trend in cheaper clothing that we won't wear the next season. Prana's prints and styles are classic, neutral and versatile which is why our closets are slowly filling up with more of their pieces and also why they would make great gifts this holiday season.
